You may be aware that I went through a similar transition a couple of years ago. Peak does not support that.Īnyway, as your friend, that's my tuppence!Īnyway, as your friend, that's my tuppence! Thanks man, that was really helpful.ĭo you know if the basic PreMaster CD 3 version will give me DDP export? I think your needs will be met well by PMCD and once you upgrade to SoundBlade you can start bringing your external hardware into its mix engine and perhaps move much of the mastering process to that platform. Peak can provide DDP too, but it's an extra cost option. Your replicator may provide an upload to their server as well. I deliver DDP file sets to my replicator on data DVD's, archived and I include a checksum. You can make proofing CD's from the DDP, btw with PMCD.

So you save them a step and another place they can screw up.

After all, when you give a redbook CD to the replicator they just turn that into a DDP set anyway. This takes so many variables out of the process. Since you're talking about replication and not duplication, please consider switching your delivery format to DDP filesets. You can upgrade to SoundBlade later, but PMCD's learning curve is much lower so you won't be taking a lot out of your schedule right now. OK, knowing what you do, I'd suggest PMCD for now. Any ideas? There was a thread some time ago but I can' seem to locate it. LaCie - d2 DL DVD±RW with LightScribe - FireWire, Double Layer and Toast® 8 Titanium for MacĪnd I'm looking for the absolute best Firewire drive I can get for my Mac. And WaveBurner is a bit unstable to say the least, I don't have time for hit & miss with my increasingly busy mastering schedule.

What is absolutely essential is something that will give me error free red books that can be used for glass master replication.

I've heard that Peak Pro 6 is a bit buggy, but I'm not sure what to think. The Sonic Studio website is a complete mess so I'm not quite sure this is the version I'm looking for, but it probably is and I don't need advanced sound editing features or plug-ins, etc.

The actual audio processing I do in Logic Pro, so I'm exporting 24 bit or 16 bit files (16 bit to WaveBurner at the moment) to the premaster software and compile the cd there. I need something where I can do simple editing, fades, dithering and perhaps insert a single AU plug-in if I need one. I'd rather not put out the $ for more hardware.I need something better and bug free than WaveBurner, and I only work on Mac. what are people using in this situation? Is it gonna be "crash city" if I try to monitor stereo audio using my ProTools HD hardware? but in my experience, using Logic on TDM hardware BLOWS. it is totally an indie projectĥ) Do i need to add CD Text info? Does it matter?Ħ) what speed are people burning at these days? Recommended? I’m on a first generation Mac Pro desktop machine.ħ) I have a proTools HD rig on that computer. it is totally an indie projectģ) what do I want to use for UPC/EAN codes? (or none?)Īgain - it is not a label project. I mean - do I have to tidy them up so they look all pretty, or will they not ever be seen anywhere?Ģ) how do I get ISRC codes? Does it matter much if i dont have them? It is not a label project. Yes, I have carefully studied the entire WaveBurner manual.ġ) In the Track List - are the track names actually used for anything (once the CD is made) for making RedBook master CDs for eventual duplication at a plant.
